Summary

Redcurrant was evaluated during cold storage at 1 °C and 95% relative humidity under normal and modified atmosphere. Fruit quality was evaluated after 13, 23 and 37 h of cold storage and repeated after exposing the fruits for 48 h at room temperature. The use of a plastic cover (PVC film) reduced weight loss in redcurrant fruits and improved the overall quality of stored fruits. A high incidence of decay in fruits was observed after 23 days of cold storage under modified atmosphere. Fluctuations in temperature during storage also resulted in the deterioration of fruit quality.
