Type of article: Article
Summary
The global fleet in Integral Reefer Containers (IRC) consists of approximately 400,000 units. Most of these existing IRCs contain the refrigerant R12 which was used in the course of production until 1994. New units are operated either with refrigerants R134a, R22 or R404A. R22 causes ozone layer depletion while the other refrigerants contribute to the greenhouse effect.
