IIR document

Refrigerant circuitry design for a multi-pass heat exchanger based on an entropy generation analysis.

Number: pap. ID: 316

Author(s) : YE H., LEE K. S.

Summary

A numerical model is described that can account the exergy loss inside tubes of multi-pass condenser with complex refrigerant circuitry. It was validated by comparing numerical results with experimental data for an R410A multi-pass condenser; the modeled and measured heat transfer rates were in agreement with an error of less than 10%. Using the numerical model, the refrigerant-side performance was analyzed according to the design parameters, and performance evaluation criteria applicable to the refrigerant side of a condenser were established.
