Summary
Following the phase-out of CFCs, HCFCs will also be phased out in the near future because of the Montreal Protocol. However, because of the impact of refrigerants on climate change, the constraints on HFCs will also increase at European and international levels: better containment, reduction in the refrigerant charges in systems, and phase-out in certain applications. We have to meet this challenge, and also to take into account the energy consumption of systems and increasing needs for refrigeration.
