Refrigerants: statistical panorama.
Type of article: Article
Summary
A survey in the USA shows that by the end of the lawful production of R11 and R12, only about a quarter of CFC water chillers will have been converted to substitute refrigerants or replaced. The automotive air-conditioning industry will require service with R12 for another 10 years and the price of existing stocks is set to rise. Some smuggling of CFCs has been detected. Substitute refrigerants are now available in good quantities and R22 usage is rising slightly. D.W.H.
