Summary

IN COUNTRIES WHICH HAVE ADEQUATE WATER SUPPLIES, THE REFRIGERATING INSTALLATIONS FOR COLD STORES EMPLOY WATER-COOLED CONDENSERS, BUT IN A COUNTRY LIKE ALGERIA, WATER AVAILABILITY IS A PROBLEM AND AIR-COOLED CONDENSERS HAVE TO BE USED. THE ARTICLE DESCRIBES SOME JAPANESE COLD STORE INSTALLATIONS WHERE THE CONDENSERS HAD TO BE DESIGNED FOR EXTREME AMBIENT TEMPERATURE CONDITIONS: 273 K (0 DEG C) IN WINTER AND 308 TO 313 K (35 TO 40 DEG C) IN SUMMER.
