Summary

THIS PAPER DISCUSSES THE ADDITION OF AN EXTERNAL HEAT EXCHANGER, CALLED A CHILLER, TO AUGMENT THE REFRIGERATION EFFECT PROVIDED BY THE EXISTING COIL EVAPORATORS LINING THE FISH-WELL BULKHEADS. AVAILABLE DATA ON REFRIGERATION EFFECTIVENESS OF MODERN TUNA SEINERS ARE ANALYSED AND A COMPUTER SIMULATION OF THE SYSTEM IS PRESENTED. OTHER COMPUTER RESULTS DEAL WITH AUGMENTATION OF THE SYSTEM BY THE ADDITION OF REFRIGERATION CAPACITY THROUGH AN EXTERNAL CHILLER. A NEW MODEL FOR THE HEAT TRANSFER INVOLVED IN FREEZING OF FISH IS PRESENTED. (BMT ABSTR., GB., 46, N 8, 1991/08, 91081779.
