Summary

THE A. REPORTS THE SITUATION OF GREEK AGRICULTURE IN A TABLE, THEN, IN ANOTHER TABLE, THE VALUES (MILLION US $) OF EXCHANGES OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCE BETWEEN GREECE AND EEC COUNTRIES IN 1979 (WITH CONTROLLED TEMPERATURE TRANSPORT) AND THE EXPANSION OF THE REFRIGERATION INFRASTRUCTURE THAT THE INCREASE IN THESE EXCHANGES WILL REQUIRE. THE PRESENT VOLUME OF EXISTING COLD STORES AND FRUIT PACKING STATIONS IS 2,400,000 M3; THE FLEET OF MECHANICALLY REFRIGERATED VEHICLES SHOULD ALSO INCREASE, BUT MODERATELY. A THIRD TABLE SHOWS THE NUMBER OF INSULATED OR REFRIGERATED RAILWAY TRUCKS CORRESPONDING TO TRANSPORT FROM GREECE TO EEC AND COMECON COUNTRIES AND OTHER COUNTRIES BETWEEN JANUARY AND NOVEMBER 1980. THE CAPACITY OF GREEK REFRIGERATED VESSELS SHOULD ALSO INCREASE FOR FRENCH EXPORTERS OF PERISHABLES, MAINLY THE MIDDLE EAST. G.G.
