RESEARCH ON REFRIGERATED VEHICLES FOR THE TRANSPORT OF FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLES.

RECHERCHES CONCERNANT LE TRANSPORT FRIGORIFIQUE ROUTIER DES LEGUMES ET FRUITS A L'ETAT FRAIS.

Summary

THERE ARE INCREASING DEMANDS FOR TRANSPORTING FRUIT AND VEGETABLES (PARTICULARLY GREENHOUSE GROWN PRODUCTS) IN THE FRESH STATE. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THE PRODUCTS ARE PRECOOLED IMMEDIATELY AFTER HARVEST IN PRODUCING AREAS AND THEY MUST BE TRANSPORTED UNDER SPECIFIC CONDITIONS OF TEMPERATURE, HUMIDITY, CARGO VENTILATION AND AIR COMPOSITION. INVESTIGATIONS HAVE BEEN CARRIED OUT ON THE INFLUENCE OF TEMPERATURE UPON PRODUCT COLOUR, TEXTURE AND FIRMNESS, CHEMICAL DISORDERS' ROTTING AND PRODUCT LOSSES DURING HIGHWAY TRANSPORT.
