RESULTS OF A SYSTEMATIC STUDY (MADE BY THE CENTRE NATIONAL D'ETUDES ET DE RECHERCHES POUR L'ALIMENTATION COLLECTIVE, CNERPAC, AND THE VETERINARY SERVICES OF THE DIRECTION DE LA QUALITE OF THE FRENCH MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE) ON 85 SAMPLES OF 41 TYPES OF SHELVES, GRIDS, OR TRAYS COMMONLY USED IN CATERING. THE RESULTS ARE GIVEN AS AN APPRECIATION OF THE RESISTANCE TO CORROSION (FROM < VERY SATISFACTORY > TO < BAD >) OBSERVED UNDER STANDARDISED TESTING CONDITIONS. SUPPLEMENTARY TESTS ARE UNDER WAY ON THE EFFECT OF PHENOMENA OTHER THAN CORROSION THAT MAY DETERIORATE SURFACES (ABRASION, CHEMICAL ATTACK). J.R.
