Role of chemical engineering on global environmental problems.

Author(s) : SUZUKI M.

Summary

Chemical engineering has played an active role in development of material and energy conversion processes in many production industries. Chemical engineering principles are directly applicable to solving the global environmental problems. Several environmental research topics carried out in Japan involving acid rain prevention, fluorocarbon recovery, carbon dioxide emission control and global ecoengineering are introduced briefly to show the possible contributions of chemical engineers in this field.
