Summary

THREE STAGES IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SELF-ADHESIVE PRODUCTS FOR THE DEEP FREEZE INDUSTRY ARE IDENTIFIED. FIRSTLY, SPECIALIST MATERIALS CAPABLE OF ENDURING TEMPERATURES DOWN TO 253 K (-20 C) WERE INTRODUCED. THEN THE CONDENSATION PROBLEM WAS OVERCOME BY THE INTRODUCTION OF WATER-SENSITIVE PRODUCTS AND SOME IMPROVEMENT IN THE SUB-ZERO TACK. FINALLY THERE WAS THE DEVELOPMENT OF LABEL ADHESIVES WHICH ARE MOISTURE-TOLERANT AND WHICH HAVE A GOOD EFFECTIVE TACK DOWN TO WELL BELOW 253 K. (INT. PACKAG. ABSTR., GB., 1, N7, 1981, 351, 1909.
