Summary

The effect of 12 treatment combinations were studied. Physiological and pathological losses and change in colour were monitored at 3-day intervals under ambient (28 plus or minus 2 °C) and cool temperature (7 plus or minus 1 °C). Under ambient conditions, the fruits showed a high degree of pathological infestation and loss in colour and could be stored for only 9 days. At low temperature the fruits could be stored for up to 15 days. Treatment with 0.1% Bavistin [carbendazim] and 5% Virosil Agro reduced both pathological and physiological losses. Treatment with 1% calcium nitrate reduced the physiological loss in weight.
