Summary

This is the third paper of series dealing with one of the most popular type of heat exchangers. In the previous part (“TCHK” nr 10-11/2011, p. 490) thermal calculations of shell-and-tube heat exchangers have been described and an example has been given for liquid-to-liquid heat exchanger used for heat recovery during pasteurization of a fruit juice. In this part the design and different technical solutions of shell-and-tube evaporators are described. Thermal calculation for such apparatus are presented and illustrated by an example of an evaporator in a water chiller with R 410A.
