Summary

This is the fourth part of series of papers dealing with shelf-and-tube heat exchangers which are one of the most popular heat exchanger types. In the third part (“TCHK” nr 312012, p. 106) the design of shelf-and-tube evaporators has been described. Thermal calculation methods have been given for horizontal evaporators. In this paper the design and technical solutions applied in shelf-and-tube condensers are presented. Calculating methods for vertical condensers are given and illustrated by an example of a water-cooled ammonia condenser.
