Summary

IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN MARKET REQUIREMENTS, IT IS NECESSARY TO STORE ZUCCHINI FRUIT FOR AT LEAST A WEEK AFTER SUMMER HARVESTS. TEN SQUASH HYBRIDS AND CULTIVARS WERE STORED AT TEMPERATURES FROM 277 TO 283 K (4 TO 10 DEG C)IN PVC WRAPS, SOME BEING AIRTIGHT AND SOME PERFORATED. PRODUCTS WERE CHECKED FOR WEIGHT LOSS AND QUALITY DURING THE STORAGE PERIOD AND WHILE NO GREAT DIFFERENCES WERE OBSERVED AMONG THE VARIOUS SAMPLES, THE TYPE OF PACKAGING IS VERY IMPORTANT IN ORDER TO REDUCE PRODUCT WITHERING, ESPECIALLY AT LOW TEMPERATURES.
