Simulation of extended surface heat exchangers using CO2 as refrigerant.

Author(s) : SKAUGEN G.

Summary

A general simulation design tool for heat exchangers has been described for CO2 as refrigerant and with air on the outside. The calculation models are compared to measurements for a Tube-in-Fin and a Parallel-Flow type evaporator and gas cooler. The proposed correlations are used as they are published in the literature with no re-fitting of parameters to the actual geometry. The capacities are predicted within more or less 15% with a higher accuracy (more or less 3.0%) for supercritical single-phase parallel flow gas coolers.
