Sizing finned batteries with the CYRANO software program: pure refrigerants and blends.

Summary

The article presents a software program, CYRANO, for sizing and simulation of finned batteries for condensers and evaporators running on water, R22, R134a and blends based on R32-R125-R134a. It can be used for batteries with complex circuits, equipped with smooth or grooved tubes and smooth, wavy or slotted continuous fins, with air distribution that is non-homogenous both in temperature and in speed. The program was validated on 7 batteries, with and without condensation of humidity on the fins. The comparisons with the test results show that the average error is about 5% for the exchanged capacity and about 30% for the internal loss of pressure. Some simulated operations are also presented for batteries using HFC blends.
