Summary

THE AUTHORS DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED AN APPARATUS TO OBTAIN RELIABLE DATA FOR REFRIGERANTS MIXED WITH REFRIGERATION OILS AND IT WAS ALSO USED TO MEASURE THE SOLUBILITY OF R12 IN NAPHTHENIC REFRIGERATION OIL AND SQUALANE, A MODEL LUBRICATING OIL SUBSTANCE. TEMPERATURES RANGED FROM 293 TO 323 K (20 TO 50 DEG C) AT PRESSURES UP TO 1.2 MEGAPASCAL. THE EQUILIBRIUM PRESSURE RISES SMOOTHLY WITH AN INCREASING R12 CONTENT, UP TO ITS SATURATED VAPOUR PRESSURE, IN BOTH THE NAPHTHENIC AND SQUALANE SYSTEMS. THE TEST RESULTS AGREED SATISFACTORILY WITH VALUES IN LITERATURE.
