IIR document
Status and technical aspects related to CFC replacements.
Author(s) : GOLDSCHMIDT V. W.
Summary
The thermodynamic aspects of replacement refrigerants are addressed in the paper. In particular the consequences on system operating efficiencies, and the desired operating temperatures and pressures for conventional refrigeration equipment are presented. The industry trends in the replacement of CFCs are summarized, as well as some of the research being conducted. Efforts towards selection of R12 substitutes in residential-type refrigeration are reviewed.
