Storage effect of LDPE film embedded with silver coated ceramic in enoki mushroom.

Summary

To extend the shelf life of enoki mushrooms, low density polyethylene (LDPE) was embedded with 30 micrometer (AC30) or 60 micrometer (AC60) of silver coated ceramic and used as a packaging film. Quality changes were monitored during storage at 5 and 20 °C. Embedded LDPE film was found to extend the shelf life during storage. AC30 extended shelf life more than AC60 and enoki mushrooms packaged with AC30 could be stored for 14 days, instead of 10 days with LDPE without ceramic.
