Summary

12 VARIETIES OF NECTARINES, 17 OF PEACHES AND 16 OF CLINGSTONES WERE KEPT IN COLD STORAGE FOR 20, 30, 40 DAYS. AT HARVEST AND DURING STORAGE PERCENT DECAY, COLOUR, FIRMNESS, ACIDITY AND SOLUBLE SOLIDS WERE MEASURED. AFTER 20 DAYS INTERNAL BREAKDOWN, WOOLINESS, SHRIVELLING ANDROT AFFECTED A VERY LARGE PROPORTION OF FRUITS OF SOME VARIETIES. THE BEST RESULTS AFTER 40 STORAGE DAYS WERE OBTAINED IN REGINA, SUWANEE (PEACHES) AND FIREGOLD (NECTARINES) VARIETIES.
