Summary

THE FREEZING POINT (FP) WAS MEASURED BY USING THERMISTOR CRYOSCOPES. THE MEAN FP OF THE YIELD OF MILK OF INDIVIDUAL COWS PER MILKING WAS 272.6142 K (-0.5358 DEG C), STANDARD DEVIATION 0.0086 K. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER FP THAN THE VALUE DETERMINED FOR MILK IN FORMER TIMES. THE TIME OF MILKING HAD A SIGNIFICANT INFLUENCE ON THE FP. IN GENERAL THE FP OF MILK FROM TANK FARMS WAS HIGHER THAN THE FP OF MILK FROM CAN FARMS: MEAN CAN FARM FP 272.6127 K (-0.5373 DEG C), STANDARD DEVIATION 0.0044 K ; MEAN TANK FARM FP 272.6158 K (-0.5342 DEG C), STANDARD DEVIATION 0.0051 K.
