Summary

NON CONDENSABLE GASES IN A CONDENSER REDUCE THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT AND THIS IS THE CASE FOR THE HEAT EXCHANGER OPERATING WITH THE MIXTURE VAPOUR + AIR/R114 IN THE HIGH TEMPERATURE HEAT PUMP. THIS HEAT EXCHANGER IS A SHELL AND TUBE TYPE AND IS FOR THE PURPOSE OF SIMULATING INDUSTRIAL CYLINDER DRIER. R114 EVAPORATES ON THE TUBE SIDE AND THE VAPOUR MIXTURE CONDENSES ON THE SHELL SIDE. THE AUTHORS HAVE DEVELOPED A COMPUTER PROGRAMME WHICH MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO ESTIMATE THE LOCAL HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT, THE GLOBAL HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT AND THE THERMAL CAPACITY. THE RESULTS CONFIRM THE IMPORTANCE OF AIR FOR THE ENERGY RECOVERY. THE INFLUENCE OF THE FLOW AND OF THE REFRIGERANT QUALITY IS ALSO MENTIONED.
