Summary
The relationship between the supercooling and the shape of ice dendrite is investigated quantitatively and the quantitative measurement data are compared with calculated data by using the phase field model. The shape of the ice dendrite tip is approximated by a paraboloid of revolution. The stability criterion of ice dentrite tip is calculated and it is shown that the shape of ice dendrite tip is unstable and side branches have a tendency to grow up.
