Superconducting cavities for accelerators.

Cavités supraconductrices pour accélérateurs.

Author(s) : SAFA H.

Summary

Superconducting-cavity technology is increasingly envisaged in most future particle-accelerator projects, in particular linear accelerators. The author gives an overview of existing accelerators worldwide using this technology, of existing or envisaged projects, of recent demand, particularly those concerning high-power proton accelerators (approximately 1 GeV and an intensity of 20-100 mA). He also presents the advantages provided by superconducting cavities for this new kind of accelerator as well as a rapid overview of test results.
