Ternary mixture as R22 replacement in heat pumps.

Summary

The paper presents results of a laboratory study of zeotropic mixtures as alternative replacements for R22. The research focused on two main scopes: 1) demonstration of an increase of the COP for zeotropic mixtures and 2) cycle characteristic comparison for selected environmentally friendly zeotropic mixtures and pure fluids for a residential size heat pump. Mixtures of R32, R134a, R236fa and R744 were tested. The mixture R744-R134a-R236fa (6-76-18) was shown to be an efficient refrigerant in high temperature heat pump systems.
