The Air Liquide compact VSA (vacuum swing adsorption): a view on an innovating radial adsorber.

Author(s) : MONEREAU C.

Summary

Pressure swing adsorption units are used for oxygen generation both on a small scale for the production of medical oxygen, and on an industrial scale, as an alternative to bulk supply and cryogenic plants. Air Liquide is actively involved in both of these fields, and its objective for industrial application is to cover the whole range between 1 and 150 t/day, by means of a new generation of plants: the compact VSA. This new concept was brought to market 3 years ago to answer new expectations coming from the oxygen on-site market. One of the most innovating aspects of the compact VSA, at least as far as technology is concerned, lies in the geometry of its adsorbers which have been developed at this occasion.
