IIR document
The application of equipment for manufacturing of refrigeration and air-conditioning products using flammable gases such as hydrocarbons.
Author(s) : GILTRUP M.
Summary
Today more and more refrigeration and air-conditioning manufacturers change to hydrocarbons. The production technology is now so matured that it (when installed and handled correctly) is safe to work with. The investment was initially very high compared to "normal" refrigerants, but the new generation of equipment has reduced the costs so that today it is within reasonable figures. Concerning production equipment and handling of the products on the production line, there is no reason to exclude flammable gases when looking at the different alternatives.
