Summary

A MODEL CRYOPROTECTIVE SYSTEM 1,2-PROPANEDIOL-H2 O-SODIUM CHLORIDE FOR HUMAN ERYTHROCYTES HAS BEEN STUDIED AT RATES OF 0.017 TO 0.033 K/S, 0.166 TO 0.33 K/S AND 1.66 TO 3.33 K/S FROM 293 TO 77 K (20 TO -196 DEG C) AND SUBSEQUENT THAWING AT 318 K (45 DEG C) AT A RATE OF 4.166 TO 5 K/S. THE MOST EFFECTIVE CONCENTRATIONS HAVE BEENDETERMINED AS WELL AS THE EFFECT OF SALT ON CELL CRYOPROTECTION.
