The effect of circulating compressor lubricant on the performance of R227ea in water-to-water heat pumps.

Summary

R227ea has been proposed as a replacement for R114 in high temperature heat pumps. However, the performance of R227ea falls below that of R114 with increasing condensing temperature. Thus the use of R227ea may be confined to lower operating temperatures normally encountered in space heating applications. The performance of a heat pump can be severely limited by the presence of circulating compressor lubricant. Therefore the objective of the paper is to demonstrate the magnitude of such losses with R227ea. But why choose R227ea?
