Summary

THE ARITHMETIC AVERAGE OF THE FREEZING POINT VALUES OF THE AUTHENTIC FARM TANK MILK, CONSISTING OF MIXTURES OF AN EVENING AND A SUCCESSIVE MORNING MILKING, WAS 272.6167 K (-0.5333 DEG C). THE FREEZING POINT OF THE MORNING MILK WAS ON THE AVERAGE 0.0072 K HIGHER THAN THE FREEZING POINT OF THE EVENING MILK. SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES WERE ALSO FOUND BETWEEN FREEZING POINT VALUES FOR SEASONS AND FARMS. HOLDING THE RAW MILK IN THE FARM TANK AT 277 K (4 DEG C) RESULTS IN A SLIGHT RISE OF THE FREEZING POINT. FURTHER ATTENTION IS GIVEN TO THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE FREEZING POINTS OF THE AUTHENTIC MILK IN CANS AND IN FARM TANKS.
