Summary

IN THE PAPER DETAILS ARE GIVEN OF A RAPID METHOD OF PREDICTING THE FPD OF MILK. THE FPD IS MAINLY PRODUCED BY LACTOSE AND THE DISSOLVED SALTS. BASICALLY, ESTIMATION OF THE LACTOSE CONTENTS OF HERD MILKS, COMBINED WITH DETERMINATION OF THE CONDUCTIVITIES THEREFORE COULD BE USED TO PREDICT THE FPDS, THE LATTER GIVING INFORMATION ON GOOD MANUFACTURING PRACTICE ON THE FARMS. MULTIPLE LINEAR REGRESSION BETWEEN THE FPDS AND THE CONTENTS OF FAT, PROTEIN AND LACTOSE TOGETHER WITH THE CONDUCTIVITY VALUES OF 126 FARM TANK MILK SAMPLES WAS CALCULATED.
