FULLY HALOGENATED CFC REFRIGERANTS WILL NEED TO BE PHASED OUT. ALTERNATIVE HFCS ARE BEING DEVELOPED AND WILL BE AVAILABLE BEFORE THE END OF THIS CENTURY. AMMONIA, AS AN EXISTING REFRIGERANT, HAS A NUMBER OF ADVANTAGES THAT ARE NOT FULLY EXPLOITED. FOR THE TIME BEING BLENDS OF EXISTING CFCS ARE PREFERABLE TO R12.
