Summary

The rheological behavior of hexadecane in water emulsions is studied with a capillary viscometer for several volume fractions of hexadecane between 0 and 15 vol% at different droplet diameters (5 and 15 μm) and in the liquid state of hexadecane (25 °C). We showed perfect stability of these Pickering emulsions over a period of two months and after six repeated thermal cycling. Then, we determined the apparent viscosity of these emulsions by measuring the pressure drops of the flowing fluid as a function of the flow rate. We observed that viscosity of those systems increased with: 1) the volume fraction of hexadecane in the emulsion and 2) the droplet diameter.
