The potential of refrigerated stores for electricity load management.
Author(s) : BROOKS R. W., GREEN R. H., CLELAND D. J., et al.
Summary
Industrial refrigerated stores have significant load management potential due to their large electrical load and inherent thermal inertia. The thermal performance of typical industrial refrigerated stores were both measured and simulated under some potential load management strategies. Air and product temperatures rose by less than 4 °C when the refrigeration supply was shed for 8 hours. During shedding, fans should be left on at least a low setting to ensure that uniform storage conditions are maintained. Pre-cooling of the stores in off-peak periods prior to shedding was shown to be a promising strategy.
