The use of flexible plastic films during the refrigerated storage of artichokes.

Summary
Perforated and non-perforated films as overwraps of fresh artichokes (Cynara scolymus, L.) were used. The effects of these films on storage life (0 deg C) and artichoke quality were evaluated. Artichokes were pre-packed with the plastic films in trays containing five units. After each storage period, shelf life was evaluated at 20 deg C. After each market period, packages were opened, and general appearance, dehydration, colour, flavour, etc were analyzed.
