The use of R134a in rotary compressors.
Utilisation du R134a dans les compresseurs rotatifs.
Author(s) : SIMONIN D.
Summary
The author examines the changes which must be implemented both to centrifugal compressors sized for R12 operation and to screw and scroll compressors, in order to make them operate with a performance as equivalent as possible when using R134a. The constraints are thermodynamic, in particular for the centrifugal compressors of which the speed should be slightly increased, and chemical, the construction material of the machines having to be compatible with the new fluid. The results are interesting, and partly due to better heat transfer coefficients obtained in the exchangers.
