Thermal performance of R-410A condensing in a microfin tube.

Author(s) : CAVALLINI A., DEL COL D., MANCIN S., et al.

Summary

Experimental values of the heat transfer coefficient and pressure gradient measured during condensation of R-410A in a microfin tube are reported. Heat transfer measurements are compared against performance of an equivalent smooth tube (inside diameter equal to the fin tip diameter) under the same operating conditions, to show advantages of the microfin tube as compared to the smooth tube. Experimental tests are carried out in a broad range of mass velocities to enlighten the influence of mass flux on the heat transfer enhancement. Comparisons with several models available in the open literature are reported for both the heat transfer and the pressure gradient data.
