Notes the increased interest in bromotrifluoromethane as a working fluid for inverse and direct thermodynamic cycles owing to its low toxicity, the absence of chlorine atoms (avoiding ozone depletion), its reduced warming potential (greenhouse effect) and its compatibility with common metallic and plastic materials. Presents an up-to-date formulation of the equation of state (volumetric) and for the saturated pressure, based on the most recent available experimental data. States the proposed equations give good accuracy and may be used in calculating the performance of thermodynamic cycles.
