Thermophysical and flow properties of ice slurries.

Author(s) : SARI O., HU J., EICHER S., et al.

Summary

In order to use ice slurry efficiently, knowledge of the intrinsic thermal properties and rheological behaviour of ice slurries are necessary. In this paper, accurate thermal and flow behaviours of ice slurries have been experimentally investigated. An on-line method to measure the apparent thermal conductivity of ice slurry is described and measurements presented; ice fraction measurements were performed with an on-line differential scanning calorimeter system; apparent viscosity of ice slurry was investigated by an on-line resonant viscometer and the influence of ice concentration on this property is discussed; finally, the measurements are compared with recent published data.
