Transient solidification processes in cryoconservation.

[In Romanian. / En roumain.]

Summary

In recent years it has become increasingly important to understand precisely the physical phenomena that control the shape of the solid-liquid interface during the solidification processes. Control over the shape of the interface is especially important, both in cryoconservation and in the industrial growth of semiconductor crystals. The paper presents a new numerical method for the analysis of transient solidification processes in the presence of natural convection, since this phenomena has a large influence on the morphology of the solid-liquid interface, the solidification rate and the temperature distribution in the liquid and the solid. The numerical analysis was developed for Rayleigh numbers greater than 1 million to point out the reliability of the method.
