WITHOUT GIVING SCIENTIFIC DETAILS, HE DESCRIBES THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF RADIATION USED, THE GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF IRRADIATION PLANT IN THE WORLD AND HE DESCRIBES THE ADVANTAGES OF THIS PROCESS FOR THE PRESERVATION OF COMMODITIES. HE SUMMARISES THE STEPS OF THE DEVELOPMENT AND THE OBSTACLES STILL HINDERING ITS EXTENSION AND HE DISCUSSES THE ADVANTAGES OF A COMBINATION OF REFRIGERATION AND IONIZING RADIATION. J.R.
