Summary

VERY POSITIVE RESULTS HAVE BEEN RECORDED BY PACKAGING ITALIAN ORANGES AND LEMONS WITH HIGH-DENSITY POLYETHYLENE FILM OF 15 MICROMETERS. THE REDUCTION OF WEIGHT LOSS OBTAINED WITH FILM IS VERY HIGH. THE FRUIT PACKED KEPT AT AMBIENT TEMPERATURE FOR ABOUT 90 DAYS SHOWED A SHELF LIFE SIMILAR TO THE REFRIGERATED UNPACKED FRUIT. THE WRAPPED, COLD STORED, FEMMINELOLNA VALENCIA ORANGE MAINTAINED GOOD COMMERCIAL QUALITY FOR 120 DAYS. PACKED SANGUINELLO ANDMORO ORANGES HAVE A SHORT STORAGE PERIOD, AS THE RESULTING FLAVOUR IS BAD.
