Summary

LEMONS (CV FEMMINELLO) WERE WRAPPED IN DIPHENYL-TREATED PAPER OR IN POLYETHYLENE FILM, THEN STORED AT 273 AND 283 K (0 AND 10 DEG C). POLYETHYLENE WRAPPING WAS VERY EFFECTIVE IN REDUCING WEIGHT LOSS, BUT HAD NO EFFECT ON QUALITATIVE PARAMETERS (SOLUBLE SOLIDS AND TOTAL ACIDITY). LEMONS STORED AT 273 K SHOWEDHIGH INCIDENCE OF COLD STORAGE PITTING, FOLLOWED BY ROT, PARTICULARLY IF NOT WRAPPED, AND LATE HARVESTED.
