Summary
Features include a porous ceiling for ventilation, supplementary humidification via wet capillary mesh hanging along the walls, a forced cooling system, temperature control through automatic control of air speed and relative humidity, and a highly insulated structure. In trials with potatoes there was less weight loss, more even weight loss from crate to crate, better turgor in the produce and less dust during sorting and packing after storage. Operating principles and economics are discussed and plans of the store are presented as an annex.
