A reversible CO2 heat pump for electric buses

Valéo recently introduced a R744 heat pump to produce heating and air conditioning in electric buses.

At the Busworld exhibit in Brussels in October, Valéo unveiled a roof mounted unit powered by a heat pump: the REVO-E HP 744.

This heat pump is able to heat, cool and demist the passenger compartment of electric buses (425,000 in circulation in the world today, mainly in China). It is suitable for hybrid or electric vehicles. It emits no CO2 in the atmosphere and can operate in outdoor temperature ranges from -20 ° C to + 44 ° C. The system is automatic and switches itself from cooling mode to heating mode or de-icing mode. It works with CO2 as a refrigerant.

The unit is already in production and is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2020.
