Résumé

These proceedings in the "Panel proceedings series" contain 13 papers of the final research co-ordination meeting of the co-ordinated research programme on irradiation in combination with other processes for improving food quality organized by the Joint FAO-IAEA Division of nuclear techniques in food and agriculture, held in Pretoria, South Africa, February 27-March 3, 1995. Extract from the table of contents: interaction of ionizing radiation with other physical and chemical factors in improving the safety and storage stability of foods; use of irradiation in combination with preservation techniques to extend the shelf life of tropical fruits and their products; effect of gamma irradiation on the microbiological and organoleptic quality of ready prepared chilled meals; use of ionizing radiation in refrigerated foods.
