Summary

THE EXPERIMENTAL SETUP MAINLY SERVES TO CORRELATE THE SUBLIMATION KINETICS TO THE MORPHOLOGY OF THE ICE CRYSTALS FORMED DURING FREEZING. IT IS INTENDED TO BE USED TO EXAMINE THE BEHAVIOUR OF CELL SUSPENSIONS DURING FREEZE-DRYING. SPECIAL ATTENTION WAS PAID TO ITS THERMAL CHARACTERISTICS IN ORDER TO ENSURE THAT THE TRANSFER OF RESULTS OBTAINED WITH THE MICROSCOPE STAGE TO BULK SAMPLES WILL BE AS GOOD AS POSSIBLE.
