Summary
A simple fruit and vegetable store utilizing ambient low temperature in cold regions of Russia is described. Polyethylene pipes distributed 2.2-2.7 m below the level of freezing soil cool air pumped through them during the autumn-winter period. Cold air is conducted through accumulators filled with salts which solidify at 0.5 deg C. Accumulated cold is released as required to maintain low temperature in the store.
